A lot of people throw around the term “self-care” so loosely that it has almost lost is value/appeal. We’re all very busy earthlings with endless careers, familial demands, and the constant pull to do even MORE. Self care is no longer optional; its imperative. But what exactly is self-care?

People tend to think of a glass of wine, a relaxing bath, an expensive but arguably worth it mani-pedi….the list goes on and on. What is apparent in the above-referenced actions of self care, is the superficial nature of these tasks. Rarely do they involve any amount of introspection or planning for the next stage in your life. How can you practice self-care without digging deep within? In my last you tube video I shared a few atypical/non-traditional avenues of self care, complete with analogies and examples.

Head over to to watch. A few of them are outlined below:

  1. Get used to saying “No” to habits, friendships and relationships that no longer serve you.

  2. Dispel the negative – fight against perceptions, stereotypes and suppositions about you.

  3. Establish and maintain a good skin care routine

  4. Ladies, devote time to cleaning your make up apparati.

  5. Take inventory of your relationships

  6. Take responsibility for your actions

  7. Remain true to authentic self. For now, I’ll sit back and enjoy this glass of wine and post a picture for the gram aptly titled #selfcare, afterall, that is what it is all about, isn’t it?
